I never feel more alive, spiritually and physically, than when I'm on a trail in the mountains, in the desert, in the forest, along a stream or on the seashore. My deepest passion is the Earth and Her infinite beauty.
When I'm not outside, I spend a considerable amount of time going through my photographs, looking for the ones that bring back memories, emotions, smells and sensations that I experienced when I was composing the image.
Because the camera is a machine that records the scene without emotion, the straight-out-of-the-camera image is usually rather flat, not very dynamic...
this is where my philosophy of processing with feeling comes in. I work at getting just the right amount of "punch" or emotion into the image. The viewer, no matter what environment or state of mind he/she is in at the moment, can actually feel the wind, the rain, the hot sun... and can smell the pines, flowers and the earth.
